The hard part of an Inspection and Test Plan is not the table. It is knowing which inspections belong in it, which ones actually stop the work, and what evidence each one has to produce. Pick the work type and it builds the plan — then edit every line of it.

Reconcile this against your project specification before you issue it.
These are the inspections commonly applied to this work type. What is a hold point on one job is a
witness point on another, and the contract, specification and superintendent all take precedence
over anything generated here. An ITP is a quality and contract document — it is not a SWMS and
it does not manage safety risk.
Hold points are where ITPs go wrong
Most ITP templates hand you an empty grid and leave the hardest decision to you: which of these
actually stops the work. Call something a witness point when the contract made it a hold point and you
have poured over an uninspected item — which is a demolition conversation, not a paperwork one.
Call everything a hold point and the job stops fifteen times a week and people start signing them in
batches, which is worse than having none.
Questions
What is the difference between a hold point and a witness point?
A hold point stops the work: it cannot proceed past that step until the nominated party has inspected and signed. A witness point means the party is notified and may attend, but work can continue if they do not. Getting these the wrong way round is the most common ITP mistake, and it is usually found at the worst moment.
Are these the right hold points for my job?
They are the ones commonly applied to this work type. Your contract and specification win. What is a hold point on one project is a witness point on another, and the principal contractor or superintendent may nominate their own. Always reconcile against the project specification before issuing.
Is an ITP a safety document?
No. An ITP is a quality and contract document. It records what gets inspected, by whom and against what. It is not a SWMS and it does not manage safety risk — you need both.
Can I edit the rows?
Yes. Every row can be edited, and you can add or delete rows. It is a starting point, not a finished document.
Does anything get uploaded?
No. Everything stays in your browser on your device. Print or save the PDF before you close the tab.
An ITP on paper is a plan. An ITP that stops work is a control.
In Obras every hold point carries a QR band. Scan it on the deck and the live record says whether it is open or closed — so an open hold point blocks the pour instead of being discovered afterwards.
